OVERVIEW

Transportation plays a crucial role in the education sector, and it becomes even more critical when it comes to the safety and security of school-going children. In India, school buses are the most preferred mode of transportation for students. While school buses are a practical and dependable form of child transportation, they do have inherent safety issues that cannot be ignored. According to reports from the National Crime Records Bureau, bus accidents across India claimed the lives of 22,442 individuals, including school children, between 2018 and 2021. On a daily basis school bus drivers are issued fines for speeding, reckless driving, and using their cell phones while driving. Unfortunately, the negligent behaviour of school bus drivers is a significant contributor to student fatalities. It is imperative that we recognize the severity of the situation and take action to improve safety measures for students on school buses. This is where technology comes in handy. Modern fleet management solutions are instrumental in enhancing the safety of school bus rides while simultaneously reducing costs for parents. Telematics technology monitors multiple vehicle sensors and uses GPS to track the fleet’s location.

SOLUTION & IMPLEMENTATION

School Bus Management: Systems has been introduced to provide real-time information on bus schedules, transit times, impending stops, which enhance student safety and allow for swift response to emergencies by parents and school officials. Drivers play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of children. Telematics provides insight into driver behavior and asset conditions, driver tracking features. The technology also gives parents real time access to the wards location, ETA for vehicle and attendance through RFID readers, making the journey a secure one. This feature is especially useful for parents to monitor the whereabouts of their children or elderly family members when they’re driving.

Geofencing: Geofencing allows users to create virtual boundaries around specific locations. When a family member’s vehicle equipped with telematics enters or exits these predefined areas, alerts are sent to designated individuals. This feature has been be used to ensure children arrive safely at school or notify parents if a family member deviates from their usual routes.

Emergency Assistance: Telematics systems often include emergency assistance features such as automatic crash detection and notification. In the event of an accident, these systems will immediately alert emergency services and provide them with the vehicle’s precise location, facilitating a swift response.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery: In the unfortunate event of vehicle theft, telematics systems with GPS tracking capabilities enable authorities to locate and recover the stolen vehicle quickly. This feature provides an added layer of security for families and their assets.

ACHIEVED OUTCOME
