According to EcoVehicle Insights, in November 2023, positive developments were observed in electric vehicle sales across various categories, as reported on the vehicle registration portal. Electric Two Wheelers (E2W) experienced a notable upswing, witnessing a surge from 68,542 units in October to 75,891 units. Electric 4 Wheelers (E4W) also displayed growth, recording sales of 7,932 units in November, compared to 7,015 units the previous month. Electric 3 Wheelers (E3W) demonstrated substantial sales growth as well, marking a significant increase in demand from 8,110 units in October to 9,245 units in November. These trends indicate a positive trajectory for the electric vehicle market in India.

In response to evolving safety standards, the government has announced mandatory measures to be implemented in two phases. Commencing from March 31, 2023, AIS 156 (Phase II) certification is imperative, mandating the integration of smart battery management systems in electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and quadricycles. Featuring Manual CAN functionality, it effortlessly reads CAN data from the battery’s ECU, eliminating the need for custom CAN protocols. Fleet managers can leverage Manual CAN Commands to send configurable commands on the CAN network, enabling specific actions within the BMS functionality.
